The CPI (Maoist) on Sunday owned responsibility for the March 15 Rani Bodli incident in which 55 security were personnel killed in Bijapur police district of Chhattisgarh.

The people's liberation guerrilla army of the CPI (Maoist) had killed 55 policemen in Rani Bodli camp, a CPI (Maoist) release said.

The naxalites claimed that the Rani Bodli incident was an answer to the Salwa Judum (peace campaign) and anti-naxal operation in Bastar region.

Police sources said that in the release, naxalites also demanded stopping of the Salwa Judum and withdrawal of CRPF, Nagaland and Mizoram Jawans deployed on anti-naxal operation.

On March 15 about 700 naxalites, led by the military wing, had carried out a raid on the Rani Bodli camp and killed 55 security forces out of the total 79 policemen and the Maoists also looted a huge amount of weapons before fleeing from the scene.
