As no other nomination was received, it became clear on Sunday that Kapoor would be the Speaker, officials said Kapoor has never lost assembly elections and won for a record sixth time in a row from Dehra Dun.
Immediately after the elections, Chief Minister B C Khanduri and other leaders congratulated Kapoor saying he would maintain the dignity of the office.
