Tamil actress held for director's murder
March 07, 2007

A Kollywood actress was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly killing a film director, sending ripples in the Tamil film industry.

Police said the actress, Sangeetha, who was nabbed in connection with the case, reportedly confessed to having killed Selva, an upcoming film director.

According to Sangeetha, 40-year-old Selva had rented two rooms in a lodge in Vadapalani in the city to discuss a movie project with actors, including the actress.

On the fateful night of March five, the director reportedly tried to strangulate himself after telling her that he had run out of money, she said.

Sangeetha, who was nursing a grudge against Selva for not being paid, immediately strangled him to death. Later, she locked the room and fled.
