The Pakistan Peoples Party of Benazir Bhutto has been listed as the party with most funds, followed by Islamist Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith, a report has said.

A report based on the official gazette by the Centre for Civic Education, an advocacy group in Islamabad, said the PPP had the most funds during 2005-06 with an opening balance of Rs 95.29 million. The party was able to raise additional funds of Rs 13 million, spending only Rs 4.16 million.

In 2004-2005, the Election Commission refused to accept accounts submitted by PPP, saying that the party does not exist on the commissions record.

However, this year, the party's accounts were separately mentioned along with those of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians.

The PPPP had an opening balance of Rs 429,400 and raised an additional Rs 246,450, while spending Rs 432,150 during the year.

Next in line after the PPP is the Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith, a component party of the Islamist alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, with a balance of Rs 928,557 and managing to raise an additional Rs 57.83 million, according to the advocacy group.

Ranked third in terms of funds is the Pakistan Muslim League. With an opening balance of Rs 6.65 million, the ruling party raised additional funds of Rs 16.14 million, spending Rs 19.73 million, the Daily Times reported.

Imran Khans Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaafs showed Rs 2.1 million as income and the same figure for its expenses, bringing the net balance to zero.
