Okram Ibobi Singh was on Friday sworn in as the chief minister of Manipur for the second consecutive term.

Manipur Governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ibobi Singh.

Soon after taking the oath, Singh, whose earlier government was the first in Manipur to complete a full term, told media persons that he will expand his ministry after Holi.

He said he had the support of the CPI, which was a junior partner in the earlier Secular Progressive Front ministry, as well as the RJD. The SPF now has a strength of 37 (Congress - 30, CPI - four and RJD - three) in the 60-member House.

Newly elected legislators, senior party leaders, Union Minister of State Oscar Fernandes and senior civil and police officials attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Singh, who staked claim to form the government on February 28, said his administration will work for peace and development in the state.
