What should President Kalam do?
June 21, 2007 15:13 IST

Indians clearly want him back in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Third Front wants President APJ Abdul Kalam for a second term.

The NDA would like him for a second term too, but it is keeping its options.

The UPA and the Left, who control the chunk of the electoral college votes that are needed to elect the President, are categorical that they don't want him back - the people's wish be damned.

President Kalam is reported to have said that he will contest if there is a 'certainty' over his election.

Given all this, what do you think President Kalam should now do? Go ahead and enter the fray and leave it to the politicians' conscience vote? Or retire gracefully, as Railway Minister Lalu Yadav has suggested?

What do you think he should do?
