The Gujarat CID arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police N K Amin on Monday night for his alleged role in the murder of Kausar Bi, the wife of fake encounter victim Sohrabuddin Sheikh, CID sources said in Ahmedabad.
Amin was summoned to the CID office in Gandhinagar in the afternoon and arrested tonight, the sources said.
He was, however, released after producing a personal bond as he has already got an anticipatory bail from a local court, the CID official said.
Amin was questioned by the CID team but officials are not willing to give details regarding this.
The CID sources added that Amin could be summoned again and arrested if the investigating agency found it necessary.
With Amin's arrest, the Gujarat CID has so far arrested seven policeman, including three IPS officers.
Though Amin was not officially part of the joint team of Gujarat and Rajasthan police that allegedly killed Sohrabuddin, the CID say that his name cropped up during the interrogation of one of the lower rung officials arrested in the case.
The official, who worked with Vanzara when both were posted in the Ahmedabad crime branch, has been questioned twice already and was almost arrested the second time but escaped it for some unknown reason.Cop admits to involvement
