The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will consider seeking the disqualification of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Jayalalithaa as a legislator as she suppressed details of her share in the Kodanadu estate in her declaration of assets filed during the 2006 Assembly polls, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said on Wednesday.

"There is a report that she has hidden the fact about Kodanadu while filing the affidavit. If it is proved true, she will not be able to contest elections in future and the post of MLA she holds now will also be rendered invalid," Karunanidhi, also the DMK president, told reporters in Chennai.

Asserting that Jayalalithaa and her close confidante Sasikala owned the estate in Nilgiris district, Karunanidhi said he had released documentary evidence to prove that the duo invested Rs 3.60 crore in the property.

As Kodanadu was located in a hilly region, permission should have been obtained from the Hill Area Development Authority for the development of the estate.

But a huge palace had been built on 38,000 sq ft in the estate without any approval from authorities.

Officials were not allowed in even to ascertain the ownership of the estate, he said.

Karunanidhi said the government will take legal steps against the building violation. "The AIADMK's campaign that we are going to conduct a raid on their places is false," he said.
