Goa Governor S C Jamir has sent a report on the happenings in the state Assembly, where Chief Minister Digamber Kamat survived a confidence vote on Monday, to President Pratibha Patil and is awaiting directions from her to decide the future course of action, Raj Bhavan sources said.

They said the report also contains what transpired in meetings Jamir had had with the chief minister and leader of the opposition Manohar Parrikar on Monday night.

The Raj Bhavan said, "Ball is in the court of the President" who will issue direction to the governor for further action in the matter.

Raj Bhavan denied the governor has sent any recommendation to the President. "There is no recommendation, whatever we have sent is just observation," the officials said.

Kamat-led Congress government managed to survive a floor test amid controversy even as Goa Democratic Alliance, a Bharatiya Janata Party-led front cried foul accusing Speaker Pratapsingh Rane, who restrained three opposition legislators from voting, of acting in a partisan manner.

"The governor has heard all the parties concerned and went through the Assembly proceedings before giving his observations," the officials said.

"The governor is also consulting legal experts over the matter," the officials added.
