The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the families of the persons killed in Saturday's police firing in Khammam district.
The government also ordered the suspension of the circle inspector and the sub-inspector of police, holding them responsible for the police firing, in which six persons were killed and eight others sustained bullet injuries.
Briefing media persons after Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy chaired an emergency meeting of the state cabinet, Home Minister K Jana Reddy said that the government has also decided to give a government job to one member each from the firing victims' families. The government will also allot them houses and provide free education to their children.
The government will bear all the expenses of medical treatment for all the eight persons injured in the police firing. The grievously injured persons will be provided ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each and those who suffered minor injuries would be given Rs 10,000
