The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has sought a floor test to prove its majority in the Goa Assembly, on Friday opposed the move to adjourn the House till Monday and said it might parade its supporting legislators at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Party chief Rajnath Singh, who on Thursday said the Centre was required to guard against any horse-trading attempt in Goa, told reporters that he suspects that the Congress could hatch a "conspiracy" against the BJP and it allies to keep them out of power there.

"If need be, we will parade our MLAs at Rashtrapati Bhavan to prove majority," Singh said.

"Adjourning the House till Monday was uncalled for. It should have been kept running. The BJP should have been allowed an opportunity to prove its majority," he added.

His comments came after the BJP-led Goa Democratic Alliance and Congress-led coalition, which are claiming majority in the 40-member Goa Assembly, sought an appointment with Governor S C Jamir.

The BJP-led formation, which claims support of 20 MLAs, has faxed its claim to the Raj Bhavan.

"We do suspect that the Congress could do some conspiracy in Goa, give what it did in Bihar and Jharkhand," Singh said.

In seperate comments, the BJP chief warned the Centre against any troop cut in Jammu and Kashmir, which he said required greater deployment instead.

"Nobody can be allowed to play with the safety and security of people. There is instead a need for increased vigil and security in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
