An army jawan shot dead an officer at a forward post in Gurez sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Major P Alexander was shot dead by Sepoy Mohan Munda on Monday night, a defence spokesman told PTI in Srinagar.
The jawan has been arrested and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The reason behind the jawan taking such an extreme step was not immediately known, the spokesman said.
