After a booklet by a party colleague on allegations against United Progressive Alliance-Left presidential candidate Pratibha Patil, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader on Tuesday launched a Web site, which he claimed provides "extensive information with proper references" about Pratibha.

Calling it a "campaign to provide an informed choice to the electorate (the electoral college)," the Web site, along with a booklet, was on Tuesday launched by BJP leader Arun Jaitley at a press conference held at the official residence of former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu.

"The voter has a right to information about the candidate he is voting for. This effort is intended for a informed choice of the electorate," Jaitley told reporters.

When asked if there was any plan to launch a Web site for National Democratic Alliance-supported candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Jaitley said, "It was not required."

The Web site asking people to join the 'campaign' is developed by a group called 'India Projects' and the BJP was "supportive of such initiatives," Jaitley said.

"There is no dilemma within BJP about this 'responsible campaign'. It is also morally correct and what is morally correct is also politically correct," he added.

When asked if the venture was any indication of the party's stand on the presidential form of government, Jaitley said, "At this point of time, we are not indicating a presidential system."

The booklet released on the occasion is a compilation of media reports and articles on Pratibha, Jaitley said.
