The sealing drive against commercial establishments running illegally in residential areas of the capital will not resume from February one, the Centre on Monday asserted even as it said the new Master Plan for Delhi will be notified by February seven.
Earlier, the Centre had said it would bring the Master Plan for Delhi 2021 by January 31, the deadline for traders to file affidavits before the Supreme Court.
"There is absolutely no question of sealing from February one," Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy told media persons in New Delhi.
He said his ministry was in the last legs of finalising the MPD-2021 and that it would be notified by February seven.
"MPD-2021 will be notified by the end of the first week of February," Reddy said, adding: "The Group of Ministers has cleared the Master Plan and authorised the ministry to make any further changes. We are right now fine-tuning the document."
In further relief to traders, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will notify more roads as either commercial or mixed-use, Reddy said.
