Five Lashker-e-Tayiba militants surrendered before Army troops soon after their entry from Pakistan occupied Kashmir along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir late on Wednesday night, official sources said in Jammu on Thursday.

The militants had entered the Indian territory along the LoC in Peer Badesar forward border area in Keri sector late last night and surrendered immediately, the sources said.

They also laid down five AK-47 rifles, five pistols, 21 magazines, 17 grenades and other explosive materials.

According to the sources, they told troops that they had surrendered because they were fed up with the militancy and added that most militants in PoK also wanted to do likewise.

The militants belong to Doda and Kishtwar areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
