The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday sought an apology from Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav for his comment that Nithari Killings were "small and routine incidents".

Describing the comments by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's brother as "shameful and insensitive", BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the murder of so many children in Nithari was "a blot on humanity. But the CM's brother has come out with a deplorable remark which reflects the state government's insensitivity."

Demanding an immediate apology, Javadekar charged the state police for not acting on time and alleged that the serial killings were "part of a larger conspiracy involving big people."

He also flayed Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh for citing occurence of similar crimes elsewhere.

In his reaction to the comments on Atomic Energy Chief Anil Kakodkar on US legislation on the nuclear deal, the BJP leader claimed that the remarks have "vindicated" the party stand on the issue.

"We warn the government that it should not budge from the national interests while negotiating the final deal and not proceed with anything compromised them," Javadekar said.
