After a brief lull, the residents of Nithari, unable to come to terms with the ghastly serial killings of children in the area, on Friday took to the streets again, marching to main accused Mohinder Singh Pandher's house and indulging in stone-pelting.

Over a hundred people marched to the now infamous D-5, Sector-31 residence of Pandher, the scene of the alleged serial killings, demanding capital punishment for the accused.

The protestors, who shouted slogans against the police and the government, included parents who have lost their children in the serial killings and also those whose children are still missing.

They first hanged the effigies of the two accused -- Pandher and his servant Surendra Koli -- and then burnt them.

The protestors pelted stones and some of them also tried to cross over the barricades put up around Pandher's house.

However, the large number of police personnel deployed in the area were able to keep the situation under control.

The protest march was organised by a local outfit Pravasi Mahasangh.

Activists of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) also held a protest demonstration in Nithari, demanding a CBI probe into the incident.
