Trinamool Congress chief Mamta Banerjee was still suffering from liver dysfunction though her overall condition improved further on Monday.

Banerjee was still unable to walk and had pain in the abdomen and muscle cramps and was still weak, Kakali Ghoshdastidar, a doctor of the medical team attending on her, told PTI.

Ghoshdastidar said a scan would be conducted on Banerjee's whole abdomen for ascertaining cause of the liver dysfunction.

The Trinamool chief would have to be in the ICU of the nursing home for some more days, the doctor said.

Banerjee had launched an indefinite fast in protest against the "forcible acquisiton" of farm land by the West Bengal government for the Tata Motors small car project in Singur.

She ended her fast on December 28 after personal appeals by President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, besides veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
