A Railway Protection Force inspector and two clerks at the Old Delhi railway station were among the five persons suspended for alleged laxity in duty following the blasts on the Samjhauta Express.

"Two clerks were suspended on Monday evening on charges of improper maintenance of records of the tickets issued for the Delhi-Attari train," CPRO Northern Railway Rajiv Saxena told PTI.

"The two are Surendra Kumar and Rakesh Maini -- both clerks are the general class booking counters," he added.

"RPF inspector D R Singh and TTE C P Sharma were suspended on Tuesday," Saxena said, adding that Chief Booking Officer D K Sabbarwal had also been suspended till further orders.

The general manager of Northern Railways and the Divisional Railway manager visited the booking counters after the accident on Monday and suspended the officials after checking the records.

When contacted, D K Sabbarwal, the chief booking supervisor, confirmed to have received a one line order.

"No charges have been mentioned. I have only received a one line order saying that I have been suspended," Sabbarwal said.
