Former chief minister of Karnataka and Janata Dal-Secular chief in-the-making H D Kumaraswamy, who has been discharged from hospital after heart surgery, is all set to pour his heart out to the voters of Karnataka.

The former chief minister says he will start campaigning for his party in another 15 days, although the doctors have advised a month's rest.

He said he couldn't stay away from the action for too long, as the party needed him.

The first phase of campaigning would commence under the leadership of JD-S chief H D Deve Gowda. Gowda, along with the rest of the leadership, will kick off their campaign in Mangalore on January 3.

Kumaraswamy, who will join the campaign 15 days later, would lead another group and canvass in other parts of the state.

After being discharged, the former chief minister said he felt fine and would be completely ready for active politics after a brief period of rest.

For the JD-S, Kumaraswamy is their only hope. There is a shadow of doubt cast upon his father, Deve Gowda, after the infamous political betrayal of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.

The common man has the impression that Kumaraswamy was not at fault for the political tamasha and that he was being controlled by his father instead. This makes it very important for Kumaraswamy to take a leading role in the campaign.

Moreover, Kumaraswamy is expected to tell the voter about the manner in which he had provided people a friendly governance during his tenure.

Although it may not make a huge impact, the JD-S also plans to ride on the sympathy wave it believes has been generated in its favour after the surgery on Kumaraswamy.

JD-S leaders spared no effort in telling the people of Karnataka that Kumaraswamy's health had taken a beating due to the political crisis in the state.
