Former cricketer and head of Tehreek-e-Insaaf party Imran Khan asked opposition parties to unite against Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and asserted that free and fair elections were must for restoration of democracy in the country.

Khan once again demanded Musharraf's resignation in the backdrop of former Premier Benazir Bhutto's assassination.

Emphasising on the need for the opposition parties to come together against Musharraf, he said that free and fair elections were needed for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.

Khan, who was in the city since Thursday on a private visit, left for Islamabad this evening by a Pakistan International Airlines flight.

Khan said on Friday that he would meet leaders of all political parties to seek boycott of the January 8 national elections due to Bhutto's killing on Thursday.
