The bodies of four bamboo cutters, who were abducted on Thursday from a bamboo dump under the Umrangshu police station area in North Cachar Hill district, were found on Friday.

Official sources said that suspected Black Widow militants abducted five bamboo cutters from a bamboo suppliers' firm under the Umrangshu police station on Thursday. The bodies of four of the abducted people were found today while the fifth

person was found in a critically injured condition.

The Black Widow or the anti-peace talk faction of the Dima Halam Daogah has been terrorising the interior North Cachar Hill district in spite of the heavy presence of security forces in the area. The outfit targets the bamboo dumps at regular intervals to extort money.

Three of the four victims were from a minority community while the fourth one was from a tribal community.
