The Bharatiya Janata Party in Himachal Pradesh on Monday claimed there was a 'wave' in the party's favour and that the ruling Congress party will not even reach double digit figure in the assembly elections.

The contest will, however, remain between the 'old rivals' and there is scope for a third party despite the Bahujan Samaj Party, Lok Janshakti Party and Nationalist Congress Party entering the fray, its chief ministerial candidate P K Dhumal told media persons in Shimla.

"Feedback from across the state suggests there is a wave in BJP's favour, which will win the assembly election with a record margin," he said.

Accusing the Virbhadhra Singh government of failing on all fronts, Dhumal said the public was feeling 'cheated' for non-fulfillment of the promises made by the Congress in 2003.

He also dismissed speculation about an 'adverse impact' in Kangra district over the party choosing for the top post.

"I was selected the chief ministerial nominee in consultation with Shanta Kumar. He and all the BJP workers are committed to the party and not to an individual," he said.
