The Bharatiy Janata Party on Monday condemned the remarks by Congress leader Digvijay Singh that 'there was Hindutva terrorism in Gujarat' and demanded an apology from him.

"Either, he does not know the Hindu ethos of tolerance or the Supreme Court judgment, which has defined the concept of Hindutva. The BJP condemns his remarks and seeks an apology from him," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said in Ahemdabad.

Digvijay was speaking the language of fundamentalists and his remarks were an insult to the great tradition of Hindutva, he said.

He also flayed Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi for saying that Modi deserved to be 'tried and convicted' by Indian courts and also by the International justice system.

"The Congress wants to try someone who is fighting against the menace of terrorism," Javadekar said.

On the Congress manifesto, he said most of the promises carried in it had already been implemented by the BJP government in its 12-year rule.

"Vidya Sahayak, agro-export zone, cooking gas pipeline, satellite township, family courts, clean drinking water, diamond parks have been implemented or under the stages of implementation in the BJP rule," the BJP spokesperson said.
