A lady teacher, who was shown in a sting operation allegedly forcing teenaged girls into prostitution in Delhi after filming them in "compromising position", was arrested on Friday.
Uma Khurana, the mathematics teacher of the government-run Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya at Asaf Ali Road in central Delhi, was arrested on Friday morning, a senior police official said.
The incident came to light after a TV channel aired visuals purportedly showing the victims telling the reporter that Khurana had allegedly filmed them in "compromising position" and was forcing them into prostitution.
The girls claimed that the teacher also blackmailed them by threatening to pass on the CDs to their parents if they did not cooperate with her.
The official said they would examine the tapes in detail and would seek legal opinion on how to go about the case.
The Delhi government also ordered an inquiry into the expose and suspended Khurana, who was transfered to the school in central Delhi from a school in Vivek Vihar following complaints by parents.
As the TV channel aired the tapes, angry parents and locals on Thursday staged violent protests outside the school demanding the arrest of the teacher.
They fought pitched battles with the police after setting ablaze at least three vehicles and damaging public property.
A case was registered for rioting.
