Two days after twin blasts claimed 41 lives in Hyderabad, the city was once again rattled on Monday, thanks to a string of hoax calls about bombs being planted at several crowded places, including the high-security state Secretariat complex.

The day began with an anonymous caller informing the police control room that a bomb may go off near the Global Hospital in the busy locality of Lakdi-ka-pul. A bomb squad promptly swung into action and searched the hospital premises. An unclaimed suitcase found at the site added to the confusion, but further searches revealed that it did not contain any explosives.

However, the police went on high alert again when another anonymous caller claimed that bombs have been planted inside the Secretariat complex, the headquarters of the state administration. The complex is located opposite Lumbini Park, where the first bomb went off on Saturday evening.

This bomb threat lead to widespread panic in the Secretariat complex, as employees rushed out of their office buildings. After a thorough search of the premises, the police declared that it was a hoax call.

The police control room received anonymous calls throughout the day, which warned of bombs being planted at crowded places like the Paradise hotel in Secunderabad, the 'Gruha Kalpa' complex at Nampally etc. All the bomb calls, however, turned out to be mere hoaxes.
