The girls' parents, in the FIR against Singh, said both drowned and died soon after being thrown into the deep floodwater, as they did not know how to swim.
According to local police station sources, two girls along with other girls of the village were collecting firewood from the Lalan Singh's orchard at neighbouring Shekhopur village. Angered by this Singh caught Kamli and Chandni ,by chasing them and threw them in deep floodwater.
Soon after the news spread in the village, the girls' bodies were fished out and angry mobs of villagers demonstrated with the bodies on Samastipur-Darbhanga road. The villagers blocked the road for hours and demanded immediate arrest of Singh.
Samastipur district magistrate N sharwan Kumar order a probe after the incident was confirmed by local police station. He also announced compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to their families.
