11 more die in Bihar floods

Eleven more people died on Friday across Bihar, taking the toll in the current spell of floods to 311. All major rivers are still flowing above the danger mark.   

The deaths were reported from Muzaffarpur (6), Bhagalpur (3) and Darbhanga (2), state water resource management department sources said.

Besides, 19 people lost their lives in Sitamarhi, 13 each in Bhagalpur and Begusarai, 10 in Saharsa, 8 in Madhubani, five in Katihar, four each in West Champaran and Madhepura and one in Nalanda.

Over 1,000 relief camps, 337 cattle camps and 474 special medical teams continue to work 24 hours in the affected areas. Besides, 5,987 boats have also been pressed into service, sources said.

Central Water Commission sources said water level of all major rivers maintained rising trends. While Ganga was flowing 26 cm and 86 cm above the danger level at Kahalgaon and Sahebganj respectively, Punpun crossed the danger mark by 190 cm at Sripalpur.
