Actor-turned-politician Govinda on Friday failed to turn up to vote in the vice-presidential election. Govinda, a Member of  Parliament from Mumbai, told Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi that he could not vote after he got injured in a fracas in Mumbai.

Dasmunsi is said to have complained to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel. Patel called up the actor and expressed his party's displeasure, sources said.

The minister said former coal minister Sibu Soren, lodged in a Jharkhand jail, could not vote as he was not keeping well.
