The Bombay high court on Monday permitted Abhishek Kasliwal, son of a prominent industrialist and an accused in a rape case, to travel abroad without approaching the court every time, but refused to relax the bar on his entry into Mumbai.

Kasliwal, accused of raping a 52-year-old woman, had moved the court for permission to enter Mumbai, travel to China, Hong Kong and Dubai for business purposes, and relaxation of the condition to report twice a month to police in Delhi, where he is currently staying.

Justice V K Tahilramani allowed him to go abroad on the condition that he deposit Rs 50,000 with the investigating officer of the case every time he travels.

On return, to reclaim the deposit, Kasliwal would have to hand over his passport back to the police. The court also did away with the requirement to report twice a month to Delhi Police, but refused to allow him to enter Mumbai.

The charge sheet against Kasliwal, the scion of the Kasliwal family of S Kumar's Group, has already been filed.
