Starlet Monica Bedi, who was convicted and sentenced for five years in jail in a passport forgery case by a Central Bureau of Investigation special court in Hyderabad, said she would appeal in the high court against the lower court's judgment.

Speaking to the media on Friday night while being whisked away from the Nampally Criminal Courts Complex to the State Prison for Women at Chanchalguda, she said she should not be referred to as "anybody's girlfriend".

Monica was apparently disappointed at the verdict of the CBI special court, but maintained that she was confident of getting justice from the high court.

"I am going to the high court. I am very confident and hope to get justice from the higher authorities. There is no evidence at all and no witness. I was not even in India at that time (when the alleged forgery took place). I am confident I will win in the high court," she said.

"I have one request for the media from my side. Please do not link me up with anyone. I am not having any relationship with anyone. I am single. Please do not call me anyone's girlfriend," she pleaded with mediapersons.
