Describing her decision to quit as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister as her "life's biggest mistake," Bhartiya Janshakti president Uma Bharti has claimed that her decision was influenced by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Lal Kishenchand Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"It (resigning as chief minister) was the biggest mistake of my life. I was influenced by Advaniji and Vajpayeeji... and took the decision to uphold the tricolour," Bharti said at a public meeting Tikamgarh on Thursday.

Voicing a demand to declare Tikamgarh district as drought-affected, the fiery sanyasin alleged large-scale corruption in execution of the employment guarantee scheme and threatened to lodge a complaint with the prime minister about it.

Accusing the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh of neglecting development in Bundelkhand, she alleged that special schemes were being announced and allocations made for the area in view of by-polls at Bada Malhara Assembly constituency that was vacated by her.
