Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Thursday night met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.

The meeting, officially described as a courtesy call, was the first interaction between the newly installed chief minister and Sonia, whose party is supporting the government.

Kamlesh Singh, one of the legislators who was sworn in as minister along with Koda, was present on the occasion. Congress leader Noor Bano, who is in-charge of the party affairs in the tribal-dominated state, was also present.

Congress has been non-committal about joining the government headed by Koda, who is an independent MLA.

Koda's rebellion led to the toppling of the Bharatiya Janata Party led-National Democratic Alliance government and installation of United Progressive Alliance ministry.
