Tension prevailed in the communally-sensitive town of Mau in Uttar Pradesh after a bomb went off in the Darul Uloom madrassa in Sabzi Mandi area, police said on Thursday.
A posse of police and Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel has
been deployed in the area.
A first information report was lodged against unidentified persons after the blast late Wednesday night, police said, adding that security had been beefed up in the entire town ahead of the coming festival season.
