Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has reached Bharatiya Janata Party's national executive in Dehradun.

Earlier, senior leaders maintained that the he will make it to the public meeting at 4 pm on time, information coming in from New Delhi is not very encouraging.

The scenic Uttaranchal capital experienced thundershowers on Friday morning.

Even at 11 am, visibility at nearby Mussoorie was down to 200 metres, thanks to thick fog in the surrounding hills.

Vajpayee could not come for the opening session on Friday morning because of illness. He went to the party headquarters to sing Vande Mataram on the national song's centenary.

On the second day of the convention at Hotel Pacific, the party will pass two key resolutions, including one on the rising prices of essential commodities.
