Pratyush Sinha was on Saturday appointed the new Central Vigilance Commissioner to succeed P Shanker, who demitted office.
A decision to appoint Sinha, a 1969 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, for the post was taken
at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Leader of Opposition L K Advani.
Sinha retired as Secretary, (Personnel) in July this year. The CVC has a fixed tenure of four years.
