Tests conducted on disgraced Pakistan nuclear scientist A Q Khan, who is suffering from prostrate cancer, have found that he is out of danger, officials in Islamabad said.

A test carried out at the National Institute of Handicapped in Islamabad on Thursday found that he was apparently out of danger and could recover after treatement, the officials were quoted as saying by the Nation.

Khan's medical examination was mainly being conducted at the Khan Research Laboratory, the premier nuclear research body of Pakistan and military hospitals.

This is the first time that he was brought to NIHd, which has good facilities.

An official spokesman on August 22 announced that Khan was suffering from Adino Carcinoma (cancer) of prostate and further investigations are being conducted by a board of doctors.

During the tests, Khan appeared happy and healthy as he walked out of the basement after the tests.

Khan has been held in house arrest since 2004 after reports surfaced that he had passed out nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran and Libya.
