President will be in Karnataka on birthday

President A P J Abdul Kalam will not celebrate his 75th birthday in New Delhi, but in Karnataka. This was disclosed by a senior official of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

"We are not sure if he will be celebrating the birthday or not," the official said.

President Kalam will leave New Delhi on Saturday evening for Bangalore.

He will spend the night at the governor's house and travel by helicopter to Hasan district to participate in a local function. The President's close friend Dr Y S Rajan, consultant to Confederation of Indian Industries, reached Bangalore a couple of days earlier to prepare for the President's stay in Bangalore.

The President will receive visitors, particularly children who come to wish him on his birthday, in the early hours of Sunday  

"He will be back in Bangalore by afternoon and leave for Guwahati and spend the night there," S M Khan, press secretary said.

After spending night in Guwahati, the President will leave for Imphal and Aizwal and will return to New Delhi on October 17 evening.
