Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has said he does not want joint patrolling with India to check smuggling of arms to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Asked if he wanted joint patrolling by Indian and Sri Lankan navies, Rajapakse told Times Now channel, "No. What I asked from the (Indian) foreign minister was that they look after Indian waters and we will look after the Sri Lankan waters."

He said LTTE used to get trawlers from Indian fishermen -- "some by force, some of course by giving them money".

"We have to stop that," the Lankan president said.

"We have to see that LTTE does not get ships to smuggle arms and drugs," he added.
