Katara case: Bharti Yadav arrives in India

Bharti Yadav, a key witness in Nitish Katara murder case, arrived in India on Friday night.

Bharti was whisked away from the airport by her family members to avoid media persons. Her father D P Yadav confirmed her arrival over phone.

Bharti will on November 29 testify in the case pertaining to the kidnapping and murder of Nitish Katara with whom she allegedly had an intimate relationship. Nitish was kidnapped from a wedding that he and Bharti were attending in 2002 and his charred body was found from bushes on Delhi Agra highway three days later.

Her brothers -- Vishal Yadav and Vikas Yadav -- are the prime accused.

Bharti then shifted to London and refused to appear before the trial court despite issuance of non-bailable warrants against her. The Supreme Court had earlier rejected her plea to depose via video-conferencing. In he petition, Bharti had contended that she could not come to India at least for six months as she was studying in London.

Sunsequently, on Novermber 19, he government issued travel documents to Bharti to come to India from Britain to depose before the trial court.
