Although Noida police chief R K S Rathore paraded Chattarpal Singh, prime accused in the kidnapping of three year old boy Anant Gupta, claiming that the police were on the right track with investigations, important questions were still not answered.
At a hurriedly organised press conference to announce Singh's arrest, Rathore and his colleagues were not willing to answer the key question - "How did the little boy travel back home in an auto-rickshaw, and where from?"
"These are the questions that will derail the investigations as the matter has to go before the court," Naresh Gupta, Anant's father said.
Gupta, CEO of Adobe India, was also at the press conference and highlighted his own investigations; how he took help from the counter kidnapping experts from Malaysia and United States to rescue his son.
"I told the police not to move and catch the culprits who had been identified till the boy is home as it could have endangered his life. I decided to pay the ransom money to seek the release of Anant," he admitted in front of the media as well as the police.
Did the police allow him to pay ransom money? Were they part of the deal? And what about the other criminals like Ashok Kalia, who had been claiming to have done the job? Only Noida police can answer these questions.
