The White House was on Friday non-committal on whether President George W Bush had received any 'private assurances' about US concerns on India expanding its nuclear arsenal during his telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Asked if the US has any 'private assurances' to address its concerns about India continuing to make fuel for its nuclear weapons stockpile or any expansion of that, White House spokesman Tony Snow said he was not aware of the contents of the conversation between Dr Singh and Bush.

"I was not party to the phone call and I doubt it would have been considered. This was more like a touch base in terms of what is going on, on Capitol Hill," said Snow, who is accompanying Bush aboard Air Force One en route to Hanoi.
