Discussion on bilateral relations and key international issues will be high on the agenda during Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's two-day visit to Islamabad beginning on Wednesday.

Lavrov will discuss bilateral and key international issues with the Pakistani leadership before arriving in New Delhi on Thursday, Russian foreign ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said on Monday.

The Russian foreign minister will pay a two-day official visit to India from November 16 aimed at further consolidating strategic partnership between the two countries.

Lavrov would also discuss in Islamabad "problems of combating international terrorism and countering other new challenges to the security in the vast region of south, south-west and central Asia," the spokesman said.

"Russia is for enhancing constructive cooperation with Pakistan and welcomes the active stance adopted by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan after it was granted the status of observer in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation," Kamynin said.

He noted that Moscow and Islamabad share views on key international issues, including the need for a multi-polar world and centrality of the UN role in the world affairs.
