The Congress' Kerala unit on Sunday condemned the death sentence against Saddam Hussein and said it was a setback to global peace and human rights.
Kerala Pradesh Congress president Ramesh Chennithala in a release in Thiruvananthapuram said the trial was not conducted in a justifiable way and the sentence was pronounced by a US-backed court.
"The verdict is a setback to global peace, brotherhood and a violation of human rights," he said.
Hussein was not ousted by the people of that country. It was undemocratic to have ousted Hussein and pronounce death sentence on him, he said.
