Striking medicos on Tuesday decided to carry on with their anti-reservation agitation despite the Supreme Court directive to call off the same.

The Apex court order is not addressed to them and it does not carry a contempt of court threat, representatives of 'Youth for Equality', spearheading the agitation, said.

"The Supreme Court is seized of the matter and has issued notices to the government of India to explain the criterion for quota. The government has set up two separate committees to deal with the problems of the doctors on 27% reservations for the OBCs. The strikers have no cause," said a retired doctor of one of the leading hospitals in Delhi.

With the doctors' strike entering the 18th day on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said, "We specifically said on Monday, for larger public interest, the ongoing strike should be called off. On the contrary, the opposite is going on."
