Describing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's roundtable conference on Kashmir as a futile exercise, a platform of Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday said no positive outcome could be expected from the deliberations.
"The government has no clear policy on Kashmir... [it] has no clear stand on the issue and its earlier stand that it is an integral part of India is getting diluted and replaced by new proposals like greater autonomy, self rule etc," the Kashmiri Samiti said in a statement.
The Samiti said a comprehensive rehabilitation process would be more meaningful than the roundtable conference.
The Kashmiri Pandits' organisation stated that while it was being widely publicised that normalcy has returned to the valley, the militants were in a position to strike anytime, anywhere.
"The number of tourists visiting Kashmir cannot be taken as a parameter for return of normalcy when lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits are out of the valley," it said.
