Pak: Moderate quake kills 1

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook the Pakistani capital of Islamabad and parts of eastern Punjab province Friday killing one person and injuring 22, head of the met department said.

The quake hit at 12.50 pm, and was located between Kotli in the Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Jhelum in eastern
Punjab, Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, told Geo television.

He said the quake was 10 km under the surface.

Twenty-two people received minor injuries in Mirpur.

He described the tremor as aftershock of the October 8 devastating earthquake, which killed more than 73,000 people in northern parts and Kashmir.

Chaudhry said that some 1,750 aftershocks have been felt since October 8. He said that aftershocks with low intensity will continue till May.

The aftershock also shook Lahore, and Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
