The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Saturday opposed the continuance of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the central alliance in view of its exit from alliance in Tamil Nadu.

"The MDMK after leaving the Democratic Progressive Alliance had no business to continue in the United Progressive Alliance," DMK president M Karunanidhi said on the sidelines of the party's state conference.

DMK is a key partner of the UPA.

He also denied that seat allocation was the reason for the MDMK's decision.

Karunanidhi said Vaiko, who clinched an alliance for the coming assembly polls with the AIADMK, had decided to quit the DPA long back.

Karunanidhi denied Vaiko's charge that he was humiliated and insulted by him. "I never insulted him."

He added, "How can you expect Vaiko to accept my appeal to continue in the DPA when he has not respected the statement of his own mother, who has said that her son will not join the AIADMK front even if Jayalalithaa offered 100 seats."
