Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to make a statement in Parliament next week on the visit of US President George W Bush even as the government is ready for a discussion on it in the first phase of the ongoing Budget session.

The prime minister will also reply to the debate on the Iranian nuclear issue on March 6, the day International Atomic Energy Agency Board is meeting to decide the matter.

Left and Samajwadi Party have threatened the government that it would face serious consequences if India sided with the US and voted against Iran.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told reporters that no specific date has been finalised for Dr Singh to make the statement on Bush's visit.

He said the discussion on the statement would be taken up only after the completion of the financial business.
