Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati Thursday called on Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar and urged him dismiss the state government which has been "reduced to a minority" following the Allahabad High Court decision in the defecting BSP MLAs case. She also termed the trust vote won by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in the assembly on February 28 as "illegal and immoral."

"The trust vote won by the Yadav government by 207 to nil in the 403-member House earlier this week is unconstitutional as it included the votes of 40 BSP MLAs who had been reverted to their parent

party through the high court verdict and the government is clearly in minority now and hence needed to be dismissed," Mayawati said in a memorandum submitted to the Governor. Mayawati also alleged that the Speaker, Mata Prasad Pandey, had "openly threatened" the BSP rebels returning to the party fold of action under the anti-defection law.

Urging the Governor to dismiss the Speaker who has "distorted the court verdict to suit the ruling party," she also demanded that the rebels who were still enjoying ministerial ranks in the SP-led coaltion government be dismissed immediately.
